How to create a Matter

Matter Creation Guide

This guide will provide a short introduction to help you learn how to create matters on your platform.

How to create a Matter

STEP 1

To Create a Matter, navigate to the “Manage Matters” section from the menu along the left-hand column. Then click the “+ CREATE” button in your screen's upper right-hand corner.

To perform this activity, You must be an administrator, account administrator, or case manager. Select Matter, Dispute, or Case.

STEP 2

Select it from the “Matter Style”depending on your particular matter type. For this example, we have selected “Arbitration”. You can then determine the nomenclature of your participants based on the requirements of your jurisdiction. When finished, click “NEXT”.

The matter style is only a label. Selecting Mediation, Arbitration, or Hearing does not affect the subsequent screens.

STEP 3

Now enter an identifier for the Matter in “Matter number” and a tile in “Matter title”. When finished, click “NEXT”.

STEP 4

You can optionally schedule a conference using your platform's web conferencing module. This can also be set up after the matter has been created.

STEP 4

Enter the participants for the matter. You must enter the applicant, respondent, and neutral to create the matter.

A third party could be a subject matter expert or individual not considered part of either party. A host might be an individual company that is not neutral but is initially responsible for the case. For example, a case manager could be responsible for holding any pre-conference calls before a mediator is assigned.

STEP 5

You will see a confirmation screen, and all the participants will be invited to the platform.

STEP 6

Click "Return to Matters" to see the dispute you created as a matter card.

STEP 7

The participants you have added will be in the participant's tab on the matter card. If you need to add, modify, or remove participants, you can do it in this location.
