Tasks Quickstart Guide

This guide will provide a short introduction to help you learn how to use Tasks in MyMatters.

Tasks can be considered to set reminders for yourself, members of your legal team, or other participants to complete action items. The mediator can also use it to assign action items to you. For example, your mediator or case manager might need certain documents by a particular date. Other than correspondence, they have set a task to help you remember the due date.

Navigate to the section that best describes what task you need to perform.

Creating a New Task

1) Navigate to Tasks and click on "New Task".

2) Type in the title of your task and the description of what it involves.

3) Use the drop-down selection box if you would like the task assignee to be another participant in the case. This would most likely be another member of your team or mediator. Otherwise, you can tick "Make private to me" if the task is just for you. No one else will be able to see private tasks except you.

4) Select the due date if this task has a specific deadline.

5) Once complete, click on "Add Task" to create it.

6) You will see the new task you created in your "To Do" list. If you assigned it to someone else, it will appear on their respective "To Do" lists. Regardless of whether the task is marked private or assigned to another person, an email notification is sent.

Marking a task as complete

1) Navigate to the task you want to mark as complete and click on the tick box on the left-hand side.

2) You will notice a grey tick box next to the task title and the "Mark as Complete" button appear on the screen. Click the "Mark as Complete" button to mark it as done. You can also select multiple tasks to mark several tasks as complete simultaneously. If you make a mistake and want to unselect all tasks, you can click on "Clear" and start again.

3) After you mark the task as complete, it will move from your "To Do" list to the "Completed" section. By default, this is not visible. To see your completed one, click on the icon on the bottom right-hand side.

This will unhide all of your tasks marked as complete.

4) You will also receive an email notification that your task has been completed. This is useful, especially if you have assigned a task to someone else.

5) Click on the tick box next to the completed task title If you want to put a task back on the "To do list". This could be the case if you accidentally marked it as complete or someone else has completed it, but you are not satisfied with its completion.

6) Click on "Mark as Incomplete" to put it back on the "To do" list.

You, or the task assignee, will also receive an email notification that the task is marked as incomplete.
